The South Wing Band
This high-energy band, organized in Chapel Hill in the '70s, continues to evolve and write new music. With two full drum kits, two guitars, bass, keyboard, harmonica and lead vocalist, they play rock music with influences from blues, jazz and a touch of funk. They'll play new original music, plus some covers of Grateful Dead and Allman Brothers songs, and maybe a little space jamming. http://www.myspace.com/southwingband
Rebecca & the Hi-Tones
Rebecca and the Hi-Tones, an 8-piece band from Durham, NC, combine western swing, country, rhythm & blues, early jazz, and 50's rock to create a sound they call "Modern Swing." Members of the BilliTones have been playing together since the mid-70s with a variety of Durham groups including Quill Gordon, Boney Maroney, JB King, and the Clap-Tones. Billy & Toni Stevens, on keyboards, harp and vocals, toured on behalf of the US Department of State, performing rock, blues, Motown, and World Beat classics in over thirty countries. They were joined by lead guitarist, Al Dawson, almost 15 years ago, developing tight three-part harmonies for an eclectic play list heavy on the Grateful Dead. Bassist Lew Wardell and drummer, Tim Madigan, round out the current roster, providing a solid rhythm section for some rockin' good dance music. We can't wait to play for you guys!
